As a distributor of feed and food ingredients, it was a natural progression for Chr. Olesen to expand into distributing ingredients for the veterinary pharmaceutical industry. The journey of distributing pharmaceutical ingredients started in 2006. Since then, we have further gone into the human API market and later into exclusive intermediates for pharmaceutical applications.

Today, Chr. Olesen’s Pharma division is divided into two business areas: APIs and Intermediates. We have offices in Denmark, Belgium, Brazil, Germany, and the USA and primarily distribute our products to Europe, Africa, Latin America, and the USA. The pharmaceutical business is currently led by Managing Partner Tobias Facklam.

We source our APIs from qualified manufacturers worldwide, as well as from our own factory, Chr. Olesen Synthesis A/S, in Denmark. Our Quality Policy
The Quality Policy of Chr. Olesen’s Pharma API division sets forth the principles for upholding the utmost standards of quality and safety in every facet of our business activities.
Quality Management System
We have a well-implemented quality management system (QMS) that follows current international rules, specifically the EU-GDP (Good Distribution Practice) and EU-GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) guidelines. The QMS ensures complete and compliant documentation for the APIs, in accordance with regulatory requirements such as those of EMEA, EDQM, FDA, and other local authorities.
Good Distribution Practice (GDP)
Our Chr. Olesen subsidiaries, ACTIVET GmbH and ACTIVET BVBA, have GDP certificates, and the entire Pharma Division acts in accordance with EU GDP (Good Distribution Practice) regulations. Furthermore, these subsidiaries have an API registration at the EUDRAGMDP database.
Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)
In addition to the GDP certificate, our Chr. Olesen subsidiary ACTIVET GmbH holds a GMP certificate, a wholesale license, and an import license for APIs from microbial or animal origin according to the German drug law (AMG = Arzneimittelgesetz) requirements.
